Youth Suicide 

Suicide rates are rising. According to the CDC suicide is the second leading cause of death for youth ages 10-24. Each day in our nation, there is an average of over 5,240 attempt by young people grades 7-12.

Teen Depression 

Teen depression is also on the rise with untreated depression being identified  as the leading cause of suicide.Approximately 20 percent of teens will experience depression before they reach adulthood.

Mental Illness 

1 in 5 adults in US live mental heath condition. Approximately 1 in 5 youth aged 13-18 (21.4) experience a severe mental disorder at some point during their life. For children aged 8-15, the estimate is 13% 18.1% of adults n the US experienced an anxiety disorder such as post traumatic stress disorder, obsessive compulsive disorder and specific  phobias. These issues often lead to worsening of the condition, resistance to treatment, and lifestyle implication that can include difficulty maintaining relationship, unemployment, homelessness, and substance abuse disorders. Imani Within wants to giveback to the Atlanta community and asset those in need to challenge the existing stigmas that plaque our youth.
